Sheng
H. Chang followed one of the strong traditions in the Chang family and
studied to become one of many Chang physicians...
While
studying in his home country, Taiwan, he met Min Mey Ma, and this would be
the beginning of my life...

The
first several years in the United States for them were spent in Alabama
and North Carolina where young Dr. Chang finished up his medical
education. During these years, my two brothers (Richard and
James)
and I were born. However, our memories of the deep South are few
as the Chang family soon moved to sunny Los Angeles where Sheng opened
up his own general practice...

Sheng's
medical practice is currently located in Monterey Park, California.
Besides his medical passion, Sheng has recently focused his professional
attention towards local politics. And, in 1994, Sheng became the
first Asian City Councilman of Arcadia, California. It was a big
step for not only Sheng himself, but for the Chinese community...
Sheng
is currently serving his 2nd term as an Arcadia City Councilman while
continuing his medical practice at his Monterey Park office... |

Min
Mey, understanding that she wanted her children to maintain their
Chinese heritage, founded the Arcadia Chinese School soon after arriving
in California. She has successfully expanded the Chinese School
from a one-day-a-week program to classes that are now offered 6 days a
week. In addition, the school has received many awards for the services it has
provided to thousands of young Chinese in the Arcadia vicinity...
Min
Mey is currently closing in on her 20th year as principal of the Arcadia
Chinese School...

Although
the three sons have all moved out, Sheng and Min Mey still happily reside in
their Arcadia residence...
